Dr. Chris Moggia
Executive Director
Chris Moggia is a California educator and technology consultant whose work spans teaching, educational leadership, professional learning, regulatory affairs, and school information systems.
Education and professional background
Chris earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from UC Santa Barbara and both a master’s degree and doctorate in education from UCLA. He is a credentialed teacher and administrator who has also served as an adjunct faculty member for the UCLA Graduate School of Education, the University of San Diego, and Pacific Oaks College. His teaching and course-development work has focused on leadership, technology, and sociolinguistics.

From the classroom to professional learning
Chris began his education career as an elementary school teacher at 99th Street Accelerated School, where he developed a strong interest in instructional technology, assessment, and leadership. While at the school, he developed the teacher-training component for the Language Development Program for African American Students and helped more than 3,000 teachers integrate technology into classroom instruction.
He also developed The Writing Machine, a text-to-speech word processor for students in kindergarten through grade five. The program was adopted by all 19 schools participating in the language-development initiative.
Educational and organizational leadership
Beyond the classroom, Chris served as Director of Online Teacher Education, where he launched a successful collection of instructor-led courses for educators through UCLA Extension and the University of San Diego. His other professional roles have included Director of Regulatory Affairs for Walden University and Director of Market Research for Laureate, Inc.
These positions brought together curriculum development, online learning, program operations, policy, research, and organizational planning—experience that continues to inform his work with educational institutions and technology initiatives.
School systems, data, and technology
Chris has extensive experience deploying technology solutions for schools and managing student information and assessment systems. He has served as Senior Director of Information Technology for Camino Nuevo Charter Academy, Director of Data Integration for a charter management organization, and Teacher on Special Assignment for Manhattan Beach Unified School District.
He currently serves as Director of Digital Learning and Assessment for PUC Schools, a 14-school charter organization based in Burbank, California.

As Executive Director of the School Data Leadership Association, Chris brings together his experience in classrooms, professional learning, school operations, data systems, technology, and organizational leadership to support educators responsible for the effective, efficient, and confidential use of school data.
